FAQ

About My services

What services do you offer?

1

I offer psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, sometimes referred to as psychological assessment, clinical consultation, and forensic psychology services. Each service has a different purpose, whether the goal is therapeutic support, clarification of psychological functioning, or help thinking through a complex situation.

Who do you work with?

2

I work with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as with professionals seeking consultation. Services are offered in English and French.

How do I know which service is right for me?

3

Psychotherapy is intended for ongoing therapeutic work, psychological evaluation (psychological assessment) is used to answer a specific question, and clinical consultation is designed for professionals seeking psychological input. You are welcome to contact me if you are unsure which service best fits your needs.

Psychotherapy

What is psychotherapy?

1

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that provides space to explore emotional, relational, or psychological difficulties. The aim is to develop a deeper understanding of what may be contributing to distress and to support meaningful change over time.

How do I know whether psychotherapy is right for me?

2

Psychotherapy may be helpful when emotions, relationships, recurring patterns, trauma, or significant life experiences feel difficult to understand or manage. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to begin.

What happens in the first session?

3

The first session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to better understand. You can also ask questions about my approach and what working together may involve.

Psychological Evaluation

What is a psychological evaluation?

1

A psychological evaluation, sometimes referred to as a psychological assessment, is a structured process used to develop a comprehensive understanding of psychological functioning and answer a specific referral question.

What can a psychological evaluation help clarify?

2

A psychological evaluation may help clarify emotional, behavioural, relational, developmental, personality, diagnostic, or legal concerns, particularly when the situation is complex or difficult to understand.

What does a psychological evaluation involve?

3

Each evaluation is tailored to the referral question and typically includes clinical interviews, psychological testing, and other relevant sources of information when appropriate.

Clinical Consultation

What is clinical consultation?

1

Clinical consultation offers professionals an opportunity to think through complex situations and develop a clearer understanding of the psychological factors that may be involved.

Who is clinical consultation for?

2

Clinical consultation is intended for professionals working in clinical, legal, educational, or institutional settings who are seeking psychological input on a difficult or unclear situation.

How is consultation different from supervision?

3

Consultation focuses on understanding a particular situation or question, while supervision involves an ongoing professional relationship that includes responsibility for the supervisee’s clinical work.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

4

I am currently accepting new clients for virtual appointments only. In-person services in Ottawa may become available again in the future.
